Harper College will be closed on Monday, January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I’m a visually impaired student who, thanks to Harper College’s Access and Disability Services Program, started my journey into college three months after high school in the Fall of 1998. I started out as a Mass Communication major for a few semesters, but found my talents leading towards an Administrative Assistant certificate which I completed and received in the fall of 2005.
I then went out into the world trying to land a career and, since nobody was hiring at that time, I decided to pursue an Associate in Applied Science at Harper College. If all goes well, I will be one of the few visually impaired students to successfully complete the requirements for the degree.
After graduation, I plan to take a month to recover from all my hard work and take my newly obtained knowledge and apply for a position at Microsoft and hope for the best.
