HarperStore Charges Prior to Financial Aid Disbursement

Students receiving more estimated financial aid than their tuition and fees** may be able to use that estimated excess financial aid to purchase books.  A book voucher can be used towards purchasing books and supplies at the HarperStore.  All incurred charges are assessed to your Harper College account and deducted from your financial aid.  Students are responsible for any outstanding balance if their eligibility changes after their purchase.

Students are encouraged to purchase their books and supplies early so they are prepared for the first day of school and have access to the greatest selection of used books.

Book Voucher Eligibility

  • You can view your Book Voucher Eligibility online in your MyHarper Portal on the bottom right of the Finances icon page.
  • Eligibility is updated daily.  The last update date is listed in the Book Voucher Eligibility box.

To Use a Book Voucher

  • Your total estimated financial aid must be greater than your tuition and fees**.
  • Book vouchers are available for use at the HarperStore up to the amount of estimated excess financial aid.  The amount is shown as the ‘Full Term Amount’ in your MyHarper Portal in the ‘Book Voucher Eligibility’ section of your Finances icon page.
For example, if your estimated financial aid award is $1,000 and you owe $750 in tuition and fees**, your book voucher amount will be $250.
  • Once the initial disbursement occurs in the semester (approximately 2.5 weeks into the semester), newly awarded students will not see an amount in the "bookstore voucher eligibility" area on the portal. If the student has a credit balance, this will be disbursed every Wednesday following initial disbursement, and refunds will follow.
  • The book voucher ‘Full Term Amount’ does not update after part of it is used.  It is the total available to be used in a semester, not how much is left.
  • Book voucher availability dates will be listed in your MyHarper Portal in the ‘Book Voucher Eligibility’ section of your Finances icon page.
  • Book vouchers are available at least two weeks prior to the start of a semester.
  • You must present your student ID and let the cashier know you are using a book voucher.
  • If your financial aid has posted to your account for a semester, you are no longer eligible for book vouchers in the HarperStore for the same semester.
  • You can monitor your student statement emails to see when your financial aid has been posted.

Harper College Policy Limits Your HarperStore Charges to:

  • One computer per student during your enrollment at Harper College.
  • One set of books and supplies per course per term.

  1. Book Vouchers are sent to the HarperStore by the Agencies for them to enter in the system and have the funds available to the students.
  2. When going to the Harper Store Online website you can search by course. But the most efficient way is to enter your Harper Student ID# and it will bring up the materials needed for each one of your courses.
  3. Then click on the materials you want to purchase and proceed to check-out.
  4. When clicking on "Payment Method" you need to select "Book Voucher".
  5. There is a box that appears, and you will enter your Harper ID# excluding the leading "H" and "0". Then select "Find Accounts".
  6. A drop-down box will appear, and you will click on the box for the Voucher or Financial Aid that is available for you to use.
  7. You must accept terms and agreements and then you can finish checking out.
  8. If you want the materials shipped to your home, some Vouchers do not cover that expense and you would have to pay out of pocket for that service. You will be notified if the Voucher does not cover shipping.
