Harper College will be closed Tuesday, November 5 in observance of Election Day.
The Harper College Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers to be scanned by students who are preparing to work in a hospital setting. Volunteers will help prepare students to perform critical ultrasounds that can save lives.
Available ultrasound exams include echocardiograms of the heart (participants must be 18 or older) and obstetrical ultrasounds (participants must be at least 18 weeks pregnant). Volunteers may be able to receive images from the OB ultrasounds.
Limited appointments will begin in mid-February. Echocardiograms will be available after 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. OB exams will be available after 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
The free exams last about an hour and are non-diagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report but may be instructed to follow up with a physician. All exams will be performed by students on state-of-the-art equipment, under the supervision of a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. Harper’s program conforms to all patient safety regulations.
Please call the Harper College Diagnostics Imaging Lab at 847.925.6104 to make an appointment.
