Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Education and Work Center in Hanover Park on Oct. 10

Education and Work Center 10th Anniversary CelebrationJoin the Village of Hanover Park, Harper College, Elgin Community College and community partners in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Education and Work Center (EWC), a vital resource for individuals seeking to enhance their education and career prospects through education courses and job training.

EWC will commemorate a decade of success from noon to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10, at the center, 6704 Barrington Road, Hanover Park.

Recognizing Hanover Park’s proximity to several community college districts and its large population of first-generation immigrant families, Hanover Park Mayor Rod Craig sought to develop an accessible center that could address local education and workforce development needs. The EWC was established in 2014, thanks to a coalition that included Rep. Fred Crespo and leaders from Hanover Park, Harper, ECC, the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership and the State of Illinois.

For the past 10 years, the EWC has fulfilled its mission of transforming lives by offering free classes and resources that meet area residents where they are, literally and figuratively. The center has broken enrollment records for two years running and offers a robust slate of adult basic education, English as a second language (ESL) classes and preparatory courses for the Illinois High School Diploma Test.

The EWC 10th Anniversary Celebration is free and open to everyone, with light snacks and beverages provided. A program will begin at 3:30 p.m. Attendees can RSVP here.
