Harper seeks volunteers for free ultrasounds

A Harper student performs an ultrasoundThe Harper College Diagnostic Cardiac and Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers interested in receiving free non-diagnostic ultrasounds.

data-contrast="auto">Limited appointments will begin in October between 3 and 7 p.m. select weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Available ultrasound exams include carotid artery (participants must be 50 or older); arteries/veins of the legs (participants must be 18 or older); and liver ultrasound (this requires a 4-hour food and drink fast, participants must be 18 or older).

The free exams last about an hour and are non-diagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report but may be instructed to follow-up with a physician.

All exams will be performed by students on state-of-the-art equipment, under the supervision of a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. Harper’s program conforms to all patient safety regulations.

Appointments are limited and fill up quickly. Please call the Harper College Diagnostics Imaging Lab at 847.925.6104 to make an appointment.
