Harper College will be closed Tuesday, November 5 in observance of Election Day.
Harper College has partnered with the Hoffman Estates Chapter, The Links, Incorporated, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Alpha Omega Chapter, to present a Know Your Rights seminar.
The community is invited to attend the virtual event from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.
Participants at the Know Your Rights seminar will gain confidence in police encounters, learn how to protect their civil liberties, and learn about their health care rights. Panelists including attorneys, law enforcement and health care professionals will discuss how to handle encounters with the police, navigate the justice system, and understand the five critical health care documents. Harper students will also serve as panelists.
The Links, Incorporated, is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Alpha Kappa Alpha, founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women and has grown into an international service organization comprising nearly 300,000 members.
There is no cost to attend.
