Applications open for two premier academic scholarships

In addition to the nearly $23 million in scholarships, grants and tuition waivers awarded to its students each year, Harper College offers two premier academic scholarships for exemplary students graduating from high school districts 211, 214 and 220.

“These two scholarships reward students who have not only excelled academically, but also bring unique leadership and personal intangibles to the college experience,” Director of Admissions Outreach Bob Parzy said. “Both offer significant financial support for students, which aligns with our goal of bringing affordable, high-quality education to the community.”

The Distinguished Trustee Scholarship is a highly selective, merit-based scholarship covering 60 credit hours of in-district tuition, fees and a $500 book stipend per semester.

On average, 40 scholarships are awarded each year based on academic ability, achievement, persistence, a desire to help others and leadership. To be considered, students must earn a minimum ACT composite score of 27 or have a minimum 3.5/4.0 or 4.5/5.0 high school GPA.

The Academic Recognition Award is a merit-based scholarship of $1,000 per year for two years. Applicants must have a minimum ACT composite score of 25 or a minimum 3.0/4.0 or 4.0/5.0 high school GPA. An average of 25 scholarships are awarded each year.

Applications are due March 1. To learn more about eligibility requirements and the application process, visit harpercollege.edu.
