Events

Harper held a number of events throughout the year-long 50th Anniversary celebration. Here are a few highlights.

50th Anniversary Event Recaps

	50th Commencement: Graduation 2018 On Saturday, May 19, 2018 Harper College held a ceremony honoring fall 2017 graduates and candidates for spring 2018 and summer 2018 graduation.
	50th Anniversary Time Capsule - RECAP Suggestions were submitted for items to contribute to a time capsule that will be opened at the College's 100th Anniversary in 2067.
	TEDxHarperCollege On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the College welcomed students, staff and faculty for TEDxHarperCollege. The event celebrated the College’s Proud Past and Strong Future.
	50th Anniversary Community Day Celebration On Saturday, April 14, 2018, the community enjoyed all-day activities ranging from the College and Career Expo, all-class alumni reunion, campus tours, adult workshops and live performances.
	Golf Open - RECAP On Monday, June 12, 2017, more than 100 area golfers gathered for some friendly competition – and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
	Jazz Under the Stars On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, The Ken Spurr Ensemble delighted an audience with jazz under the stars at Harper's outdoor pavilion.
	50th Anniversary Celebration Hullabaloo for Students On Wednesday, September 13, 2017 Harper College hosted a welcoming event for current and returning students. Activities ranged from henna tattoos, obstacle courses and magic.
	50th Anniversary Gala - RECAP More than 400 people attended the event on September 16 at Priester Aviation at Chicago Executive Airport, capping off a weeklong celebration recognizing the first week of Harper classes back in 1967.
	Doing More Together Week Harper College faculty and staff came together to make a difference in our community, donating almost 600 hours during Doing More Together Week.
