Arlington Heights, Illinois native Ryan Wolfe returned to the Domingo-Colburn-Stein
Young
Artist Program at Los Angeles Opera for the 2023-2024 season. Commended for his
“commanding presence”, “well-tutored, polished baritone”, and “spot-on delivery”,
Ryan has
won an Encouragement Award in the Central Region Finals of the Dominique and Eric
Laffont
Competition and is a two-time semi-finalist of the Lotte Lenya Competition.
During his time in LA, Ryan’s highlights included Ping (Turandot), Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia), Golaud (Impressions de Pelléas et Mélisande), and Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia). Concert highlights include Tristan und Isolde (Steuermann) with the LA Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and directed by Peter Sellars, Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with the Richmond Symphony, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and Carmina Burana with the Santa Cruz Symphony. Ryan has collaborated with world renowned conductors such Gustavo Dudamel, James Conlon, Louis Langrée, Matthew Aucoin, and Lina González-Granados with companies such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Des Moines Metro Opera, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Richmond Symphony to name a few. Ryan teaches Applied Voice and Aural Skills at Harper College in Palatine, IL.
