Ensembles
Showcase your talent with performance opportunities.
Whether you're a vocalist or instrumentalist, a music major or non-major, the Harper
College Music Department offers a wealth of performance opportunities. From symphonies
and singers to steel drums, our ensembles perform throughout the year in Harper's
Performing Arts Center.
Many of our ensembles provide students the opportunity to learn and perform alongside
professional musicians. Students expand their creativity, challenge their abilities
and enjoy camaraderie while developing networking skills. Audition requirements vary
by ensemble:

Other Performance Opportunities and Events
- Annual Jazz Festival and Concert
Led by Ken Spurr, well-known Chicago jazz pianist and Director of Jazz Studies at
Harper, the College invites high school big bands, ensembles and combos to a day of
jazz offering students an exciting, non-competitive opportunity to perform for, listen
to and work with some of Chicago's top jazz performers and educators. The event culminates
with an evening concert featuring a performance by Harper's talented jazz faculty.
- Annual Chamber Music Festival
This annual event showcases the work of the Music Department's accomplished artist
faculty, friends and the Chamber Winds Ensemble-In-Residence. The concert features
great works from the classical chamber music repertoire.
- Cultural Arts Concert Series
A program of several free lunchtime and ticketed evening concerts presented throughout
the year features guest artists from a variety of musical genres. These concerts are
provided in part through a generous grant from the College's Cultural Arts Committee
