Harper College will be closed Tuesday, November 5 in observance of Election Day.
The musical talents of Harper College students, faculty and alumni will be on display during the college’s annual Summer Concert Series. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays from June 6 through August 1 at the Drs. Kenneth and Catherine Ender Pavilion on Harper’s campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
Free and open to the public, the series’ live shows span indie rock, jazz, a string ensemble and a vocal choir (see the schedule below). That range represents the musical diversity within Harper’s programs.
“The Summer Concert Series is an opportunity to not only hear from our Harper ensembles, but also some of the professional groups our music faculty perform with,” said Edward Hamel, chair of Harper’s Music Department. “These concerts provide a great opportunity to invite our community to hear what Harper’s Music Department is all about.”
The fourth annual series will launch with a show presented by Harper Radio, featuring Chicago bands Calico Loco (led by adjunct instructor Dani Robles) and Moontype. Harper’s Jazz Ensemble and Lab Band will close the series on August 1.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets because no seating is provided. Free, nearby parking is available in lots 9 and 10. In case of inclement weather, performances will be moved inside Harper’s Performing Arts Center.
