About OIE

Founded in 2014, the Office of International Education (OIE) brings together various areas related to global campus programming, study abroad, and faculty development. It serves as a valuable resource for the college's mission of educating students to become leaders in an increasingly complex global society. Through collaborative programming and engaging curricula, the OIE strives to ensure that all students have the knowledge and understanding of culture, language, history, geography, and global perspectives. This prepares them to navigate a world characterized by interdependence, diversity, and rapid change. Harper College is proud to be a Board Member College of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID).

Internationalization at Harper

Our innovative approach to campus internationalization, known as Roadmap to the World, is built on three key pillars that guide our comprehensive efforts:

Strategic Planning: Every five years, we develop a Strategic Plan for Internationalization that outlines the goals and activities of the Office of International Education. Get a glimpse of our latest Strategic Plan, Global Vision 2025.

Global Region of Focus: Recognized with the 2018 NAFSA Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award and the 2020 IIE Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education, this initiative organizes our campus-wide internationalization endeavors in a three-year cycle. It includes faculty development, study abroad programs, and engaging campus activities centered around a specific region of the world.

International Mobility and Exchange: We offer abundant opportunities for our students and faculty to engage in research, work, and study abroad experiences, or to connect with international partners online. Additionally, our campus proudly hosts esteemed international scholars.
