Steps to Enroll for Students at Large

As a new student-at-large, this guide will help you through each step of the enrollment process:

Apply online at harpercollege.edu/apply. Payment of a $25 nonrefundable fee is required at the time of application.

If you are taking a course that requires a pre-requisite that was fulfilled at another institution, provide your transcript from the other institution. An unofficial transcript as proof of completion is sufficient.

The MyHarper Student Portal is your primary source of information and communication from the college. Please become familiar with it before your class begins. You can also look up your username and password on the login page.

  • Log in with your username and password
  • Review your New Student Checklist for actions. Items on the checklist may include placement exams, SAT scores or transcripts you will need to take math or English classes.
  • You will also be able to access academic, personal, financial and student support resources.

Placement Exams Icon 3. Placement Exams

If you are planning to enroll in a college-level English or Math course, you will either need to take the placement exam, provide SAT/ACT scores or submit transcripts with college credit for evaluation.

Placement exams may be waived for students who demonstrate college readiness in other ways. For complete details, review important information about Course Placement Testing and College Readiness.

Review your placement test requirements:

  • Log in to MyHarper Student Portal.
  • Go to your New Student Checklist to view your specific testing requirements and learn what actions you should take.

Before you register for classes, calculate how much your course(s) will cost. Please note: Students-at-large are not eligible for financial aid.

Should you change to a program eligible for assistance, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to fafsa.gov and apply to see if you are eligible for federal/state student assistance. Harper's school code is 003961.

Registration is easy! a three-step process:

  1. Log into your MyHarper Student Portal account.
  2. Select the "MyHarper" tab.
  3. Use the drop-down tab to select the course(s) you want, and then add or drop classes as necessary to build your schedule.

Although you aren't required to attend Orientation or meet with an academic counselor before you register, if you would like to do so anyway, please contact the Center for New Students and Orientation.

Apply Scholarships Icon6. Select Your Payment Option5. Pay for Your Courses

You have several options to pay for your classes:

  • Sign up for an interest-free monthly payment plan.
  • Pay with cash, credit card or electronic check.

Your registration is temporary until you either select or complete a payment option or click on the "Finalize Registration" button if no payment is due at that time.
