Harper College will be closed on Wednesday, February 12 in observance of Lincoln's Day.
On January 20, 2023, 168 students from 11 health careers programs participated in
an interprofessional education activity. The speaker, Marcus Engel, used his amazing
story of recovery to highlight the importance of collaboration and compassion, and
care during interactions with patients.
Upon completion of the event, students reflected on the value of collaborating with an interprofessional team and its effects on patient outcomes. Breakout groups discussed the differences between empathy and sympathy and the importance of “presence” and the impact that can be made just by being there for patients in their time of need.
