Harper College will be closed Tuesday, November 5 in observance of Election Day.
On August 26th, 2022, 161 students from 7 health careers programs participated in
an interprofessional education event to learn more about caring for patients in the
LGBTQ community. The speaker, Aster Gilbert, joined us from the Center on Halstead
in Chicago to provide education on appropriate terminology, allyship, providing gender
affirming care, and frequent barriers to accessing care and support. Following the
event, students reported feeling more equipped to utilize inclusive language when
providing care to patients, using gender-neutral and gender-specific pronouns, and
understanding the importance of inclusivity when providing equitable care.
