The Harper College Distinguished Trustee Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship of 60 credit hours of full in-district tuition, fees and a $500 book stipend per semester. The scholarship is awarded up to 40 students who are in their current academic year graduates from high schools within the Community College District #512, which includes High School Districts 211, 214 and 220.

The Luce Scholarship is a full ride tuition, fees, room & board, books, transportation and paid summer research opportunity.  It is a two-year scholarship specific for rising female juniors for their 3rd and 4th year here at Dominican, or for junior-level transfer students.

Scholarship criteria include:

  •  3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Minimum 25 ACT Composite or SAT total 1200 score (may be waived for transfer students)
  • Evidence of active commitment to DU’s mission (to be determined)
  • Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math/STEM participation (i.e., previous research participation as an undergraduate, receipt of a STEM summer scholarship, research conference participation, or students who have plans for future research)
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Honors program or honors project participation a plus at their community college

In addition to the scholarships listed above, more than 170 scholarships are available on AcademicWorks. Students must submit a new application each academic year. Harper awarded more than 400 students over $700,000 to help with tuition and/or books. Scholarships take 15 minutes to apply. Most applications close Monday, April 24.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

Basic Qualification(s): To qualify a student must have outstanding academic achievement, engagement in college, community activities, and leadership accomplishments. In addition, hold a 3.5/4.0 GPA. There are more specifications on ptk.org.

Basic Qualification(s): Recognizes the top-scoring student from each of the 50 states plus one student from a chapter in Canada and one student from a chapter in one of the other seven sovereign nations where Phi Theta Kappa chapters exist. Basic Qualification(s): Recognizes Phi Theta Kappa members who demonstrate potential for or involvement in public safety or service while enrolled in an associate degree public safety program. To qualify students must hold a 3.5/4.0 GPA and be at least 50 % complete with their Associate Degree. There are more specifications on ptk.org.

Basic Qualification(s): The purpose is to increase the number of Hispanic college graduates by providing scholarships and assistance to students and their families. To qualify a student must be Latino/a and hold a 3.0/4.0 GPA. There are more specifications on ptk.org.

In addition to the scholarships offered through ptk.org there are a number of transfer scholarships to specific institutions only available to students in Phi Theta Kappa.  Many of these are automatic scholarships while others are competitive. 

Basic Qualification(s): Eligible students must provide proof of membership in PTK and have completed an Associate of Arts degree by the time they enroll at Lake Forest College to receive $23,000/year in scholarship. Please visit Honors Transfer page for additional information. As of now, Lake Forest College is able to offer the scholarship to every qualified candidate.

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Award - $1,500 per year. To be eligible for the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Award, a student must be transferring from a two-year college having earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must show proof of membership in the PTK Honors Society by uploading a copy of their membership certificate to their transfer admission application.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship competition scholarship was established through the efforts of Phi Theta Kappa members to recognize outstanding academic and leadership achievements among students seeking to transfer to Boston University. Scholarship recipient will receive a renewable $20,000 scholarship award from Boston University. Nominees must be prepared to enter their program of admission as juniors and have a minimum of 60 transferable credits.

Nominee forms are now available and may be submitted online. The submission deadline for the application and all supporting credentials is March 1.
