Dean's List

Each semester, students who successfully complete 6 or more college level credit hours and achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher will be recognized as Dean's List students. 

Honors designations will be noted each semester on the student academic record. The total number of hours a student successfully completes will determine the designation received, based on the grade point average. On transcript.

Cum Laude Honors Designation

Harper College recognizes the academic achievement of its associate degree graduates by designating Academic Honors to students who have completed a minimum of 45 semester hours of their coursework at Harper College and who meet the following criteria: 

  • Cum Laude: 3.5 - 3.749 cumulative GPA 
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.75 - 3.899 cumulative GPA 
  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.9 - 4.0 cumulative GPA 

The official transcript will show honors designations based on the student cumulative grade point average upon completion of the associate degree program. 

Global Scholar
In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of global citizenship, the program offers an introduction to cultures, creating a unique advantage for your future employment, scholarship opportunities and higher education experience. 

Honors Program
A stimulating and encouraging program of intellectual inquiry and open exchange of ideas. Offers smaller class sizes, additional support for transfer planning, special scholarships, and a community of dedicated, inquisitive learners. Noted on diploma.

One Million Degrees
A comprehensive program dedicated to low-income, highly motivated community college students to help them succeed in school, in work, and in life. From tutors and coaches to financial assistance and professional development, OMD offers the support that empowers scholars to transform their lives and those around them for generations. OMD Scholars graduate at twice the state average with the skills and experiences necessary to launch economically mobile careers. (Not on transcript or diploma.)

Phi Theta Kappa
Nationally recognized official Honors Society for two-year colleges. 

Social Justice
A civic-engagement program inviting you to study in a dynamic atmosphere where issues of equality, access and service are openly and regularly explored. Options include exploration, transfer distinction and graduate distinction.
