Harper College

Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education

Learn how to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children in grades 1–6. Our intensive field-based program prepares every candidate to work effectively and democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds.

Elementary Education (BA)

Elementary education students can expect focused and practical assignments; engaging discussion and small group projects; and intensive, 2–4-

week field experiences in diverse schools and classrooms. Our students also complete a 15-week student teaching experience at a partner school under the guidance of a mentor teacher and university supervisor.

Through the University Center at Harper College, you can earn a BA degree by taking a combination of core courses in the humanities and social sciences, as well as specialized education courses that show you how to meet the needs of diverse learners in elementary and middle school. At the end of your studies in the University Center, you will earn a BA degree in Elementary Education from Roosevelt and a license to teach grades 1–6 in Illinois.
