Harper College

NAMI On Campus

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) On Campus recognizes that the key concepts of recovery, resiliency, and support are essential to improving the wellness and quality of life of all persons affected by mental illness. Mental illnesses should not be an obstacle to a full and meaningful life for persons who live with them. Through advocacy, community education, and peer-to-peer support, NAMI On Campus aims to end the stigma around mental illness and empower students to seek the help that they need.

NAMI On Campus will accomplish its mission through the following:

  • Host on-campus NAMI support groups with training from NAMI State Organizations (“NSO”) and NAMI Affiliates (“NA”) in collaboration with Harper counseling services
  • Provide resources for individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness
  • Promote education on mental illness through presentations, guest speakers and student panels
  • Advocate for improved mental health services and policies on campus
