Striving Towards Educational Prosperity (STEP) is a new Harper College program that’s all about helping Black students and their families feel welcome and supported in college. STEP is your guiding hand as you graduate from high school and enter college.

The Striving Toward Educational Prosperity (STEP) Program at Harper College aims to increase enrollment and access to higher education, particularly for Black students and their families.

Our goals are:

  • Empowerment: Provide Black students and families with the tools and information to navigate the higher education landscape, by making college more accessible. 
  • Education: Offer comprehensive guidance on available academic programs, financial assistance options, admission processes, and career planning strategies. 
  • Engagement: Foster an inclusive and supportive campus environment that encourages community engagement, networking, and lifelong learning. 
  • Excellence: Nurture the academic potential of Black students and support students in achieving their educational goals, leading to a successful and fulfilling future.
