Harper College offices will be closed Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
Select Harper programs (see below) offer entirely 8-week class formats, compared to the traditional 16-week semester. While you complete the same number of classes in a semester, the 8-week class schedule provides you with some additional benefits.
Research shows that students using an 8-week class schedule are more likely to:
• Successfully finish courses
• Graduate
• Achieve their goals faster
Focus: By taking fewer classes at a time, you can focus more on each topic.
Momentum: Move at a faster pace by completing courseworkn every eight weeks.
Progress: If “life happens” and you can’t complete a course, you can start again in just a few weeks.
Flexibility: Build a schedule that aligns with work, family, or personal commitments--making the most of your time.
Options: On-campus, blended, and online
Available for full-time and part-time students
If your program offers a fully 8-week schedule (see list below), work with your advisor to register for both the first and second 8-week classes at the same time. Below are examples of what a schedule might look like, but rest assured that we will work with you to make sure that your schedule meets your needs.
Many full-time students take 15 credit hours at a time in a traditional, 16-week semester. The example below gives you an idea of how you can focus on fewer classes at a time while earning the same number of credit hours. This can also work if you need to take classes that carry fewer or more than 3 credit hours.
