Harper College offices will be closed Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
A variety of services are provided by the Harper College Police such as criminal records checks, escorts, law enforcement services, vehicle jump starts, and vehicle lock outs.
The Police Department offers an on-campus escort service that is available 24 hours a day to all members of the college community. This service may be provided by a police officer or a community service officer. All community members are encouraged to take advantage of the service if there are any concerns about walking alone on campus.
Law enforcement services at Harper College are provided by the Harper College Police Department (HCPD) located in Building B, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Harper College police officers are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board with the same police authority, including arrest powers, as police officers in cities and sheriffs in counties.
The Harper College Police Department is the primary authority for reporting traffic accidents and criminal activity that occurs on campus.
Jump starts are offered to individuals needing assistance with weak or dead batteries. When calling the Harper College Police, please have the following information ready to provide to the dispatcher: parking lot number, vehicle color and make, license plate, and a call back number. A waiver will need to be completed prior to the officer providing assistance with starting the vehicle. If you do happen to require two or more jump starts in a year, it is possible that the vehicle issues are not battery related.
If you lock your keys inside your vehicle, we may be able to help you. Although this service is provided, Harper College Police employees are not trained locksmiths; therefore, a waiver will need to be signed before an attempt to gain entry to your vehicle is made. The college can not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused during the process.
The police report request form PDF may be submitted in person, through the mail, or faxed. If mailing or faxing the report request form, the request will not be released until the fees are received by the Harper College Police. A $5.00 charge may be paid by exact cash, check, or money order. The requesting party will be contacted when the report is ready to be picked up.
