Write a three to four-page essay in which you express your view on the following prompt:
What are the essential components of “hell” in the Odyssey and the Aeneid? In other words, what would you say the geography of hell consists of? Why do you think these elements are included? Do they speak to any universal human concern or anxiety about death and the afterlife?
In case you’re wondering, you are being asked to write a 3-4 page contemplation on the nature of hell, the rationale for the elements of hell, and the relation of these notions to the “human condition” (ie, that we all die!).
