The Harper College Library is sponsoring a “Readers’
Theater” performance by the Speech Team in commemoration of Abraham Lincoln’s
201st birthday at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 11th. Attend this event and write an essay 1-1½ pages long discussing your impressions of
Abraham Lincoln. Focus upon this
question: how do you think it was
possible for him to rise from a poverty-stricken background—“the short and
simple annals of the poor,” as he expressed it—to become one of the nation’s
greatest Presidents? This extra credit
assignment will be worth up to 10 points.
