MUSIC (Music Emphasis)
The music emphasis at Harper College
is designed to provide the student with a program equivalent to the first
two years of most four-year college programs, with emphasis in music education,
musicology, composition, applied music, and theory and literature.
This recommended transfer program
for music students meets the requirement for an associate in fine arts–music
degree. Students should check individual school requirements before completing
the curriculum as outlined.

- All Music majors must demonstrate piano proficiency; MUS 165, MUS
166 and MUS 265 may be passed by proficiency exam. Music majors are
also advised to take MUS 100 as part of their elective credit.
