Are you familiar with the Social Justice Studies and Global Scholar graduation distinction?
They are ways to be recognized in your transcript, diploma and during graduation for
developing skills linked to intercultural and social justice skills. Students pursuing
these distinctions conclude their pursue by joining a Capstone course where they develop
a transformative project in partnership with a mentor. In this event, we'll have current
students and alumni sharing their projects and their experience pursuing the distinction.

Dr. Richard Johnson is Professor of English and Humanities and Director of the Office of International Education at Harper College. Having step away from international education for a few years, Rich is excited to be involved again and looks forward to working with his colleagues to promote intercultural and international education across our campus. A medievalist by training, Rich is the author of Saint Michael the Archangel in Medieval English Legend and a number of articles on Old English hagiography. He is also a beekeeper and a banjo enthusiast in his spare time.

Angelica has been serving Harper students in different departments since 2016, and in 2022, she joined the Office of International Education as a Program Specialist. She is passionate about International Education, having worked for many years as a Student Advisor in ESL schools and exchange program agencies, and earning her EdM in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with a concentration in Global Studies at UIUC. In addition to advising Harper students and supporting internationalization efforts on campus, she is a co-advisor for the International Students Club and has been trying to learn ASL.
